Cindy was born in southwest Virginia, where she made her home with her husband and step-daughters. They live in a small community that is very peaceful; near a lake and the New River. “The drive to work and home is very peaceful, as I cross the lake and revel in the wonder of Gods beauty.”
Cindy saw her dad give back to the local community by working with the rescue squad and being a police officer. “Giving back to our community was on both sides of the family. I also have worked for a local police department here in the New River Valley area for over 25 years, so you can say it runs in my blood.” In her job Cindy has the opportunity to do technical writing which she really enjoys.
“I enjoy doing the simple things in life. I love to craft, bake, sew and I also do woodworking and home improvements. I repurpose furniture and items to make them new again or changing a room to make it look totally different. I am so glad that I learned to sew from my grandmothers so that I can make things that will be around in the future for people to enjoy. I am grateful that I was able to spend time with my grandfather to observe of his woodworking skills. I don’t have a lot of the skill but I know he would be proud.”
Cindy continues to inspire as she provides teaching life skills to youth and to women; showing how to be resilient in their life. Her goal is to continue writing and speak to community organizations and schools.
